ČESKÉ VELENICE INFINITY

Residents of the small town of České Velenice appear on camera and, with the aid of a border marker provided by the director, play their version of identity and nation: The mayor doggedly paints a picture of a happy “nature place” in which even human nature comes into its own, the cultural official laments the disappearance of the town’s culture, the go-go dancer philosophizes about the border between public body and private personality, and the philosopher climbs on fences and roofs to get closer to the endlessness of the night sky. In the Czech tradition of ironically analyzing language and the world ČESKÉ VELENICE INFINITY is a humorous semi-documentary staging of reality which reveals reality to be staged itself.

Obyvatelé malého města České Velenice se objeví před kamerou a - pomocí hraničního kamene poskytnutého režisérem - hrají své verze identity a národa. Starosta tvrdošíjně maluje obraz šťastného přírodního města, ve kterém si přijde na své dokonce i přirozenost lidská, kulturní referentka naříká nad zánikem městské kultury, barová tanečnice filosofuje o hranici mezi veřejným tělem a soukromou osobností, filosof leze na ploty a střechy, aby se dostal blíž k nekonečnosti noční oblohy. V české tradici ironické analýze jazyka a světa je film „České Velenice Evropské“ humornou, semi-dokumentární inscenací skutečnosti, která odhaluje skutečnost inscenující sebe samu.
